Taking a cruise vacation is fun and their are ways of making it even more enjoyable with a bit of preparation and knowledge. Before booking your cruise their are things that you should know.

Are you going on a family vacation, a couples cruise or a singles cruise? Depending on the answer to this question, the type of cruise and cruise line that you choose will differ.

Families who do not gamble should seriously consider the Disney line. There are tons of things for the kids to do and there is a whole area for adults as well, as well as a spa area for relaxation. Every person that I talk to that took one of their cruises has said that their kids begged to be allowed to stay in the kids area. They were just having way too much fun to want to leave for even a minute.

There are also a ton of things to do together, like the Broadway style shows, amazing meals and on shore excursions.

Now if you are going on a family vacation and the adults want to gamble, try a Royal Caribbean Cruise. There is a kids area, as well as a kiddie pool but there is also a casino for the adults. On top of that you have excursions, as well, onboard shows, a spa, tons of activities and outstanding cuisine.

If you are more into the singles or even couples scene and you like to party a bit, go with Carnival cruise lines. They are typically less expensive and have a party atmosphere. You can lounge by the pool, dance in their clubs and mingle to your heart’s content with hundreds of like minded individuals.

If upscale and quiet is more your speed go for the Princess Cruise line. In our opinion this is the least kid friendly. The kiddie pool on the two cruises that we went on began at 6 feet. This is a slightly older crowd that is being catered to. There are several amazing restaurants onboard like Sabatinis where for an extra $25 you get unlimited courses. There are pasta dishes, lobster, steaks, incredible desserts and more and you can have as many portions as you like. If you want to pamper yourself there is an onboard spa and an oasis which you can pay a small fee to reserve. Children are not allowed in this area and it is dedicated to peace and quiet. You can lounge by the pool certain that you will not be disturbed. Or you can go to one of the other pools and actually mingle and meet people.

All of these cruises offer treats like movie nights by the pool, snack bars throughout the ship, buffets, free classes, paid classes, spas, different dining plans depending on whether you want to eat with the same people night after night or if you prefer your own table and dining schedule. They all also offer onboard shows, art auctions, on shore excursions and more. Many even own or rent their own private island for you to enjoy.

Your first cruise vacation will amaze you and you will have fun. The only word of caution is to buy some Dramamine before hand just in case you hit slightly bumpy waters. It should help you feel great and enjoy your trip even more.
