How long do the employees stay on the cruise ship? Is it just until that specific cruise is done and then they get like a week off at a time while a new shift of staff member come on or how does that all work? I am doing this for a project, thanks for the help!
Depending on Cruise line – and the position the person holds, contracts run from 3 months to 10 months.
This is a 7 day job with a few hours off per day. Shifts also vary – you could have 1, 2 or 3 shifts per day.
Some cruise lines offer for the crew to go on leave in between their contracts, for 1 to 2 weeks, others don’t.
At the end of the contract the person has about 2 months off before starting a new contract (the ones which have 3 months contract have about 1 month off between contracts)
Wow! Whoever gave you that information is WRONG! Crew members sign contracts that run anywhere from 3 to 7 months, and that means working every single day, with no days off! The work days are also very, very long, and can be ‘split shift’ so you work 6 hours, have 4 hours off, and work another 6 to 8 hours.
Employees stay on the ship as long as they work. Unless they get transfered…
My best friend worked on a cruise ship as a dancer in one of the shows and his contract was for 9 months on the same ship, no period of time off during those 9 months.
Generally, you have to sign up for a 6-9 month contract. The job is 7-days a week. You do get time off during the day but the hours are long and the pay is low. They do give you free food, place to sleep, health ins for free.
Hope I helped!
