Windows Vista Logos
You've always seen the various "Windows" logos out there, but what do they mean? Well, they have meant different things to different releases of Windows and today the meaning is even more confused by the introduction of even more logos.
If you see the "Premium Logo" it will say "Windows Vista" with the orb graphic.-- these computers, software, devices and games are certivied to offer the premium features like Aero, Media Center and so forth.
If you see the "Basic Logo" it will say "Windows Vista: Basic" on computers, but the logo for software and devices that provide basic support is a bit more obscure. It reads, "Works with Windows Vista". Obviously the demands for this logo are significantly less than that of the premium logo. If you have two products you are debating over, this will probably give your decision a push in one direction over the other.
What do the logos mean to you as a consumer?
Premium
+ Premium versions of Windows that run on premium hardware, enabling the delivery of compelling end-to-end scenarios that greatly improve customer satisfaction.
+ Assurance that they are purchasing a top-quality product that offers the richest, most compelling Windows experiences available.
+ A product that meets Microsoft standards for compatibility, reliability, and security.
+ Digitally signed drivers available for download from Windows Update to their PC.
Basic
+ Assurance that they that are purchasing a cost-effective, quality product that offers a familiar and easy-to-use Windows experience.
+ A product that meets Microsoft standards for compatibility, reliability, and security.
+ Digitally signed drivers available for download from Windows Update to their PC.
No logo? It will probably still work, but obtaining drivers or potential application compatibility problems may be speed bumps on your trip to its smooth use.
