Vista Easter Egg?
For security reasons, you will find far fewer "easter eggs" out there today than compared to a couple of years back.
For a New Year's day post I figured an easter egg would be a nice thing to provide. The best I could come up with was these:
ribbons.scr /p65552 (View image)
aurora.scr /p65552
bubbles.scr /p65552
Enter any of the above in a command prompt to see the specified screensaver run while you are working (so the screensaver appears as your wallpaper). The Bubbles one is particularly neat as it is a subtle screensaver, however it does take a snapshot of your desktop before it starts so if you create or move windows you'll see the snapshot images on your screen as well which can become a bit confusing. Once running, you'll need to select the screensaver in Task Manager and press "End Process" to stop it. This does require a newer video card (compatible with Direct3D). If you are running Aero, you should be in good shape.
If you find a "real" easter egg, or hear of one and want confirmation, please let me know!

This is not technically an easter egg. The switch for the screen saver allows for the application to run while the mouse is being moved. this is the same instance that allows you to preview the screensaver without it turning off in the preview window when the mouse is moved.

True! Like I say, there really won't be any Easter eggs. In today's more security conscious world we really shouldn't see them at all anymore. That being my goal, this is as close as I could come. I suppose this type of thing will have to replace Easter eggs for those of us that are looking: simply undocumented or odd behavior that can be pulled off if you know the trick!

it has the old error, of every single version of windows, stupid as it is.
If you create a Folder or a File and name it "con" without the " you will get an error that says it already exist or it is invalid or something like that.
It is related to an old MS-DOS device called "con" that that allowed access to the file system, if you type on a console on any windows or ms-dos "copy con filename" you will get space to write, when you finish press CTRL+Z and then enter, "filename" will be created on the folder you are in with the text you just writed.

Microsoft threatened to fire any coders caught putting easter eggs inside Vista, or any future operating system.

Not sure if that little photo qualifies as an Easter Egg, but it may be the closest thing we get so I thank you for calling attention to it!
