Do you get to get off the cruise boat and explore the islands?

Ok, im planning to go on a cruise next summer. I was wondering do you stay on the boat for all 7 days or you have to stay at a resort on the islands?
Do you recommend going to Hawaii or the Caribbeans?
you LIVE on the boat at all times, most ports are only visitations for at most like 12 hours. Trust me not much sleeping will be done and that is about the ONLY time you will spend on your boat. Almost everything is included while you are on the boat as well so that is a definite plus, I would imagine that getting a hotel or room on the islands would be a very large waste off money on an already expensive cruise and if you have an insanely awesome time (like I did) you will hardly want to be in your room and will find the one on the boat more than accommodating for your needs.
First off I would suggest going to the Caribbean.
The cruise will have ports of call and when the boat reaches each island it will stop and you will get to walk around the island and do what ever you like on the island for the period that the boat will be on the island(which may not be more than a day).
You do not sleep at a resort because the boat is where you will sleep and eat…granted you can eat on the island when you stop off but you already paid for that on the cruise so you can eat on the cruise ship.
I hope that you understand what I am trying to say..in short you dont stay on the boat 24/7 for teh 7 dyas and no you dont stay at a resort.
Hope I helepd and enjoy!

The Caribbean is the best place to visit and it is better on a cruise as you get to visit many island for your money. It seems like you will be on the Caribbean Victory judging by the days.
Yes, you get to get off the ship as it docks. You have basically about 9 hours before boarding the ship again. People mostly go on an island tour, shopping and the beach. You might be able to do all three of two of the activities.
However, if you feel to stay on the boat all day that is your choice but you should get to see the islands and meet the people. Although the food on the boat is free you might want to try the local cuisine.
I am sure that if you do decide to travel to the Caribbean and do go on the cruise you will be back. I have been on three cruises already and hope to go again soon.
Hope you enjoy whatever you do.:)
If I were to take a cruise I would like to go on a smaller boat, like a 100 foot sailboat that goes to the smaller islands in either of the places you mentioned. You are closer to the water and therefore can see more sealife, and I just love being on a sailboat. You may be able to find a more specific cruise too, like one for scuba divers, fishing, or island hopping, whatever you are into. Some of the mid size boats also have cool toys to launch like kayaks, smaller boats and jet skis. If you are going with someone on a romantic cruise there are also outfits where you could charter an even smaller boat for just the two of you. Hawaii is much more expensive than the Caribbean obviously. Happy cruising.
