There you were, relegated to miserly quarters in steerage, or set on top of the world in palacial state rooms of pure luxury. Think of the class structure in the movie ‘Titanic’.That’s changed (somewhat) in the new age of fierce competition for cruise dollars. But there are very important ways my fellow Paupers use to dramatically lower their costs and to upgrade their accomodations on oceanic cruises.

NEWSLETTERS

How about an upgrade? Better cabins, discounted certificates, 10-40% savings off advertised prices all offered by your cruise line through their respective newsletters.
I recommend you subscribe to the online newsletter from several cruise lines to get these bargain offers. They sometimes announce fantastic ‘sweepstakes’ for free cruises, too. You can always unsubscribe at anytime.

EARLY BIRDS

The early bird still gets the cruise, just like with the airlines. If you’re good at long-range planning you can save mucho dinero. The earlier you book your cruise the more you save. Typically 10-40%. It’s funny, but on the converse side, last minute deals can also set you free to save much money. So, be early or really, really late and save.

CONNECTIONS

If you belong to an association, organization, if you have a wedding party, family reunion, belong to a church group or are planning a corporate outing you can get hefty group discounts. As always, don’t be afraid to ask! Here’s the idea: let’s say you and you significant other are planning a cruise to the Bahamas. Why not post your plans in the company, church or association newsletter or bullitin board, inviting others to join you. You’d be surprised how much of a discount you can arrange by inviting others along.

STAND BY!

Yes, it happens with cruise ships, too. Typically you’re notified three weeks prior to departure if there is space. Late notice like this means you get a nice discount fare.If you employ this strategy, it helps to be on a floating vacation schedule with your employer. If you’re self-employed, you’d be a fool not to use this trick. The more flexible your schedule the more money you save.

BONUS: Paupers Secret Confessions #14

The four ideas above are standard issue tricks of the trade. They work very well for booking a cruise. But what about an idea to save money once you’re already on board? Here is one you may not have considered before. One of the biggest expenses on a cruise ship are those delicious cocktails!Who doesn’t like to embibe a sparkling beverage of choice while soaking in the sun on deck? Buy liqour onshore or at the cruise line liquor store. Drink in your room or poolside. Get a steward to bring ice and mixers. Our Pauper hates to spend $10. for a glass of wine. If you add up the price of a drink or two for two people over a 7-day cruise—ouch!

It’s amazingly easy to go on a vacation with the cheapest cruise deals you can find on the internet today. The cruising industry is cutting the cost each day making it possible for the average person to enjoy a cruise holiday.

While you get all fired up looking for the cheapest deal, you have to find out in advance what is or what is not included in the fare. Most first time passengers buy the ticket just because it’s cheap and only to discover that most of the stuff are not included. They end up paying for each and everything onboard which can be costly.

This article will reveal some tips on how you can save money on your cruise:

oDid you know that it’s possible to cruise for free if you possess certain skills like dancing? If you can teach others, some cruise lines look for people to help with lecturing and hosting. You just have to be good at what you do. A bit of work can secure you a free seat on a cruise ship.

oWhat about taking advantage of the discounts offered by cruise lines. There are certain individuals who qualify for a discount. People like seniors, military personnel and others like firefighters. Find out and you may be the one.

oYou should avoid using shore phones to make calls. This may drain your pocket big time. Calls made this way may cost you double or even three times more than the normal price. Get yourself a calling card if you can.

oAn inside cabin can also save you money as compared to having one with an ocean view. This is totally up to you and what your needs are. Consider going to the spa when it’s off peak. By doing this, you can save up to 50% and use your savings for your next spa visit.

In conclusion, as you look for the cheapest cruise deals, bear in mind that you can also save a lot of money only by surfing the internet and avoiding the mistakes like buying your air fare through the cruise line.

There has never been a better time to cruise. Use these tips to get cheap cruises.

Everybody wants cheap cruises but few know how to get the best deal. Follow these simple tips to get a deal on your next vacation.

1. Look for cheap cruises during slow times. For a Caribbean cruise some of the best times to book are the summer months and early fall. You can also find good cruise fares right after the major holidays (Thanksgiving, New Years Eve) and also after major school breaks (spring break, summer break).

2. Look for last minute cheap cruises. If you live near the port or are within driving distance you can find discounted cruise fare last minute. Watch the cruise line websites for last minute fares. If you know you want to go, book it as soon as you find the discounted fare as they fill up fast. Remember though that if you have to fly to the cruise port you may pay higher airfare which may eliminate any savings you had booking last minute.

3. Book early. You can save money booking early. Recently the different lines have offered great “early saver” fares to those that book a year or more before their cruise. Book these as soon as your sure you want to take the trip. These cheap cruises also fill up fast. Be sure to read the refund policy when booking early fares as they may come with a non refundable deposit meaning you may lose some money if you change your mind later.

4. Take a repositioning cruise. These cruises don’t stop at as many ports as a regular cruise because the ship is being positioned to a different port. If you just enjoy the experience and don’t care about ports of call this may be a great way for you to get a cruise discount.

Cheap cruises are a great vacation bargain. To learn how I saved over $500 on my last cruise check out my website cheap cruises which also has a packing list, drink prices and more tips.

Need to cruise on a budget? I'll show you how you can have a great cruise experience while saving hundreds of dollars after your every cruise! At the end you can learn the single biggest mistake that cruise passengers make when going on a cruise.

Looking to cruise on a budget? With the current state of our economy, this is the best opportunity to find a budget cruise. Cruise companies are always looking for any holes in the market and making adjustments to encourage more people to cruise.

Fact – Cruise lines are very good at persuading you to empty your wallets while on board. Being on a cruise is almost like marching into a giant, floating Las Vegas casino. The ship’s structure, the colors, the music… almost everything is designed to get you to spend more money.

There are many deals around especially if you use the Internet. You really need to be diligent on looking for the best deal and once you have an idea of what kind of experience you want, then you can shop around for the best deals. Always try to negotiate the price because cruise lines are doing everything just to fill in their cabins.

When you find an interesting source online, I highly recommend that you join their mailing list so you can get up-to-date deals and special offers. Setup a dedicated email account for your cruise deals so the deals won’t get mixed in with your other emails from other accounts.

One of the essentials for cruising in a budget is to either book early or get last minute deals. Some of the advantages when you book early are: early bird discounts, free upgrades of cabins, onboard ship credit and better selection of cabins.

If you have control of your time, then you can find bargain cruises 2-3 weeks before sailing. Some passengers will cancel at the last minute which forces cruise lines to lower cabin prices.

These are practical tips if you’re looking to cruise on a budget but there’s still a critical mistake that 99% of the cruise passengers make while cruising and it’s costing you hundreds of dollars. You can save us much as 75% on your cruise vacation with insider cruise travel tips.

Maybe you’re deciding between whether to go look for last minute cruise bargains or take the early bird specials. Do you have to immediately purchase an early bird special or should you relax and wait for a good last minute cruise deal?

Booking in last minute cruise bargains is getting a trip that leaves in a few days to more than 70 days in the future. Last minute cruises offer ways and means to those of us who procrastinate or who are fond of spontaneous decisions. And because of the Internet, you can now subscribe to websites that mail out the best last minute cruise deals.

But like any deal, you’ll have to weigh their advantages and disadvantages. Read this 5 tips on last minute cruise bargains to avoid the hassle.

Take Advantage of Opportunities

The most preferred time to find last minute prices on a specific cruise is 1 to 3 months before the departure. Why? This is because this is the final call for travelers to cancel existing reservations without getting a penalty. At this stage, the cruise line knows exactly how many cabins are left and will decrease the fare so they can sell out the ship.

Peak Travel

Remember this when shopping for last minute cruise bargains — there’s a motive why a ship is being emptied with little time to spare — and it’s not because it’s a winner. Basing from a calendar, you might not find a last minute deal over the holidays. On the bright side, you’re more likely to find many good deals in the Caribbean during hurricane season (September – early November), or during the pre-holiday break (first weeks of December) and the post-holiday break (first weeks of January).

Repositioning Cruises

Sometimes certain schedules just don’t sell well, especially when ships reposition. When liners change “areas” for the season, they are known as repositioning cruises. These trips are usually longer — sometimes two weeks instead of seven days — and come by lots of ports, all at a reasonable price. One important thing to be aware of is that you are responsible for buying expensive one-way airfares because trips like these can start in one port and end up in another.

Define Value

Think about how much of a saving is a cheap cruise the needs you to spend two times as much on airfare. Don’t settle for cheap last minute cruise bargains if it will decrease the quality of your overall cruise experience.

Read the Fine Print

This is very important and obviously applies to every transaction that you make. Please read the offer very carefully because it will tell you exactly what your package entitles you to.

These cruise ship tips are very effective when getting last minute cruises but there’s still a critical mistake that 99% of the cruise passengers make and it’s costing you hundreds of dollars.
