Registry Editor Tips

The registry editor remembers where you were when you exit, so if you spend time in the same subkey, just ensure it is selected when you exit and you'll be brought right back there when you next launch the Registry Editor.

Another often overlooked feature is the Registry Editor Favorites feature. Here you can store shortcuts to places you find yourself repeatedly navigating to. Read on for some of my "favorite" registry subkeys...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Uninstall
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Finally, you can save yourself a lot of scrolling by just expanding the key and typing the first couple of characters to jump down to that place in the alphabetical list.
