Explorer Crashs Disable DreamScene

If explorer should crash (something that happens significantly less in Vista than it did previously-- but it still happens). If you have DreamScene (Tech Preview) running, it gets paranoid it may be at fault and disables itself. No big deal, just fire it back up (unless you too think it may be at fault.

You can reproduce this situation by killing explorer.exe in Task Manager. It dies as requested and the desktop disappears until you use the "New Task" option to enter explorer.exe which fires the desktop back up again. Funny thing is though, this behavior of DreamScene is triggered by seeing that Explorer had failed (not that it did fail) so it occurs when Explorer is restarted, and not when it crashes.

Note, the error text is: "Windows DreamScene (Preview)", "Windows DreamScene has encountered an error.", "Windows DeamScene has detected that Explorer was not closed properly. As a precaution, DreamScene has been temporarily disabled."

So is there a fix for this?

Is it related to Desktop Session Manager in Services.msc?

This particular "error" is more a behavior than a problem in itself. I recommend looking to the Event Viewer for why explorer is crashing, this automatic disabling of DreamScene is a result of something causing a problem affecting explorer, just what that problem is ma be explosed in the Event Viewer. If you need more help, please post any details regarding your situation in the forum here.
